Engineering Specialist - Automotive in Vehicle Engineering

Job Specifics

Based on-site with one of the leading automotive manufacturers you will be responsible for vehicle programme targets setting, tracking and sign off to deliver product environmental performance (both legal and competitive). The main areas of delivery focus on Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), Vehicle End of Life (ELV) and Vehicle Interior Air Quality (VIAQ).
  • Target setting including competitor benchmarking
  • Project management of target delivery on platform and programme level
  • Issue resolution and status reporting, up to Engineering Director level, including attendance of key programme integration and review meetings and preparation of metrics and documents
  • Final validation for all targets (legal and competitive) including data analysis for Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) and Reusability, Recyclability and Recoverability (RRR) calculations
  • Drive the engagement at programme level and with key engineering and non-engineering functions including organisation of environmental innovation and optimisation reviews to advice on sustainability impacts
  • Conduct vehicle RRR certification with VCA (Vehicle Certification Agency)
  • Compilation of market specific data to support environment books of knowledge

The ideal Candidate

  • Material Engineering university degree (minimum Bachelor degree)
  • Experience of vehicle engineering preferably within the automotive industry (OEMs or suppliers) in testing and evaluation
  • Automotive knowledge of vehicle componentry and layout
  • Understanding of key environmental impact aspects: e.g. climate change, energy efficiency, resource efficiency and depletion
  • Knowledge on key areas of delivery: Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), Vehicle End of Life (ELV) and Vehicle Interior Air Quality (VIAQ)
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills
  • Proven project and time management skills
  • Able to work to a high standard with minimum supervision
  • Able to deliver under pressure and challenging deadlines and able to prioritise own time and workload
  • Advanced user of all Excel functions and other MS Office Programs (Word, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.)
